Let me begin with some very brief relevant biographical notes. My wife and I had the pleasure of teaching English in China for one year in 1993. In 1998 I returned on vacation with a friend. It was then that I acquired something just short of an obsession with Southwest China (Yunnan Province). Since that trip I have made three subsequent visits to China and look forward to my next.

While researching the idea of giving tours to China I came to the conclusion that you basically have two choices. I think I can offer a third, and in my mind a better way. The two current options are:
(1) Traveling on your own - Many people do it but most of the risks and difficulties are obvious. China is an overwhelming place, to say the least.
(2) Taking one of the numerous group tours offered online - These tours are all very structured. This is the best option for many people; I, myself, would hate it. The greatest part of traveling, especially in China, is the adventure.

My hope is to offer a tour with a high degree of security and peace of mind while still providing the opportunity for adventure and autonomy. I have avoided going into much detail, but I would love to answer all your questions. The following information applies to all tours:
